After a few eventful days in the boxing world, attention has turned back toward Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua with the announcement that the two heavyweight world titlists have signed a two-fight deal.
FORMER two-time WBC super-flyweight champion
Srisaket Sor Rungvisai remains on course for a shot at his old title later this year.
Headlining a Matchroom and Nakornloung co-promotion at the Workpoint Studio in Bang Phun, Thailand, the heavy-handed southpaw forced his Thai compatriot,
Kwanthai Sithmorseng, to retire after three rounds of a scheduled 10-rounder.
The bout opened with both fighters meeting in centre ring and exchanging blows, and neither man demonstrated a particularly sound defence. Srisaket, 34, followed up stiff jabs with arcing hooks to the ribs and corkscrew uppercuts to the jaw. Straight shots penetrated Kwanthai’s guard, as the 38-year-old from Bangkok attempted to stem the flow of punches coming his way by covering up and working his opponent’s midsection.
Jessica McCaskill and Cecilia Braekhus have different memories of their first fight and different outlooks on the rematch, writes Thomas Gerbasi
UNDISPUTED welterweight champion Jessica McCaskill has a singular goal heading into her March 13 rematch with Cecilia Braekhus. “My main goal is to retire her, so I need to do that in a grand fashion.”
Those are fighting words, ones we didn’t expect to hear from either combatant after their first bout in August 2020, when WBC and WBA super-lightweight champ McCaskill went up a division and took all the belts from Norway’s Braekhus via 10-round majority decision, handing the “First Lady” the only defeat of her 37-fight career. In the lead-up to the bout, it was all respect between the two, and even after the razor-close battle, it remained that way, with a post-fight video in the locker room in Tulsa going viral as Braekhus seemingly passed the torch to Chicago’s McCaskill. But as soon as Braekhus left the United States for No

One of arguably the two best light flyweights in the world, WBA “super” champion Hiroto Kyoguchi, will reportedly make his U.S. debut in two months. Both Fernando Barbosa and Asian Boxing report that Kyoguchi will face 20-year-old former minimumweight title challenger Axel Aragon on March 13th as part of the Juan Francisco Estrada-Roman Gonzalez 2 undercard.
Kyoguchi (14-0, 9 KO), out of action since an October 2019 decision over veteran countryman Tetsuya Hisada, was supposed to face another wunderkind in Thanongsak Simsri last November. Unfortunately, Kyoguchi tested positive for COVID shortly after weigh-ins, and Simsri reportedly declined the March 13th date due to travel issues.
