WASHINGTON â Two weeks ago, Parkland parent and gun control advocate Fred Guttenberg was unhappy with President Joe Biden.
During his first press conference on March 25, Biden pivoted away from a question about gun control after mass shootings in Boulder, Colorado, and Atlanta to talk about infrastructure, and Guttenberg, whose daughter Jaime was killed in the 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, voiced his displeasure on Twitter.

An Idalou man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in a one-vehicle rollover crash Tuesday morning in northeast Lubbock County.
Juan Ramon Guerrero, 67, was killed and 80-year-old Amelia Rose Guerrero was hospitalized with serious injuries after the crash that was reported about 11:30 a.m. on U.S. 62/82 and FM 1729, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Investigators believe Juan Guerrero was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer east in the inside lane of U.S. 62/82 near FM 1729 when, for unknown reasons, the SUV entered the the center median. The driver over-corrected and went back across both eastbound lanes and into the barrow ditch. The vehicle rolled before coming to a rest in the upright position.

I’ve been intrigued by the Florence Academy of Art in Italy for years. It’s a small, prestigious art school that revived the kind of education Thomas Eakins, John Singer Sargent, Abbott Handerson Thayer, and George de Forest Brush had, as well as hundreds of other Americans who studied in Paris in the late nineteenth century. It’s an atelier and draws on teaching principles once used in the best French art schools but also by the Old Masters. I visited in September. There are 130 students from thirty-five countries occupying what was once an old customs house a short walk from the Arno River and the historical center of Florence. This year is its thirtieth anniversary.
