JAMMU, Feb 18: The Delimitation Commission on Jammu and Kashmir held its first meeting in New Delhi today which was boycotted by its three associate members belonging to the National Conference including former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah, a move that evoked sharp reaction from Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also an associate member and lashed out at the NC for its “duplicity”.
The Commission, headed by former Supreme Court Judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, met to seek suggestions from the associate members on the process of delimitation of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
New Delhi: Two associate members from Jammu and Kashmir told the Delimitation Commission on Thursday that special attention be given to the difficult terrain while carrying out the delimitation exercise in the Union Territory.
The commission, headed by former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai, met here to seek suggestions from the associate members on the process of delimitation of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Lok Sabha speaker had last year named Farooq Abdullah, Mohammad Akbar Lone, Hasnain Masoodi, Jugal Kishore Sharma and Union minister Jitendra Singh as the panel s associate members from Jammu and Kashmir.
Associate members are lawmakers from their respective states who assist the delimitation panel in redrawing parliamentary and assembly constituencies.

New Delhi:Â The Delimitation Commission, which redraws constituency boundaries, held its first meeting on Jammu and Kashmir Thursday, even though three of the five âassociate membersâ from the union territory chose not to attend.

Constructed by Jammu Development Authority (JDA), the new facility has built-up area of around 60,064 sqm, having a parking capacity of 80 Buses in bus terminal, 1312 cars, 177 two wheelers and 239 commercial shops, besides dedicated space for restaurants and food courts.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor termed the opening of the facility of General Bus stand cum Multi-level Car Parking as a step towards the comprehensive development of physical, social and basic infrastructure to accommodate the business class as well as meeting essential requirements of quality life for ordinary citizens.
