Clackamas County won t purchase Jennings Lodge motel January 22 2021
Estacada site now being examined for permanent shelter for homeless people, after Econo Lodge s long list of repairs revealed
Clackamas County is ending its effort to purchase the Econo Lodge Motel on McLoughlin Boulevard as part of a regional project to turn metro-area motels into shelters for homeless individuals. Instead, the county will pivot to begin a due-dilligence process on purchasing a motel located in Estacada.
Last month, the Clackamas Board of County Commissioners directed county staff with the health, housing and human services (H3S) division to begin the due diligence process of vetting the property before potentially purchasing. A heated discussion between board members preceded their Dec. 15 vote in which Commissioners Paul Savas and Martha Schrader both abstained for separate reasons.

SIR – I had already heard that our surgery had been told to pause their vaccination operation before I read yesterday’s front page report of GPs being forced to slow down and having promised vaccine deliveries cancelled.
It is sad that politicians and bureaucrats descend by default to the lowest common denominator.
Our rulers are ready to inflict harm on Britain’s citizens and economy by lockdowns because we are on a “war footing”, so why delay vaccination campaigns that are going well?

SIR – My 90-year-old aunt experienced total chaos on Monday morning when attending her appointment for a Covid-19 vaccination at the new Epsom Downs Racecourse vaccination hub.
Her appointment was for 10.05am. On arrival, she joined a queue of cars, where she remained for four hours, waiting to be processed. She was then told she could leave the car and join a walking queue in the freezing cold, which snaked around the buildings.
Five hours after arriving, my aunt gave up, along with many other elderly people in the queue, and returned home without being vaccinated.
