Southern Lit Alliance Announces FocusLit With Jill McCorkle, Hosted By Steve Yarbrough June 1 Tuesday, May 18, 2021
New York Times bestselling author, Jill McCorkle, will be featured for a Southern Lit Alliance fundraising event, FocusLit, hosted by author Steve Yarbrough. Due to unforeseen medical issues, Lee Smith will be unable to conduct the interview, however now we have Steve Yarbrough, who s a successful author, friend of Jill s, and a fun speaker, organizers said. McCorkle and Yarbrough will discuss Jill s novel, Hieroglyphics, a story about the difficulty of ever truly knowing the intentions, dreams and secrets of those who raised you.
The event will take place on June 1 at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom, and includes a pick-up meal from Public House.

Southern Lit Alliance is bringing back the FocusLit fundraiser as they work to encourage engaged and passionate readers and writers with their literary festivals, author lectures, writing contests for grades K-12, writing workshops, and writing groups in area jails.
This year’s fundraiser will be held on June 1 at 6:30 p.m. on Zoom, and will be a double feature, as New York Times bestselling author Jill McCorkle is interviewed by author Lee Smith. The two will discuss McCorkle’s novel Hieroglyphics. Lee Smith is the author of Blue Marlin, The Last Girls, and seven other novels; she’s won multiple awards, including the Lifetime Literary Achievement Award from the state of Virginia.
