In a battle of two desperate teams searching for a crucial late season series victory, LSU took the game one advantage with a 8-3 victory over Auburn.
LSU took the lead early with three runs in the third inning, but Auburn slowly but steadily whittled the lead back down to one run. LSU survived that scare and tacked on three more insurance runs late in the game to put the result in safety.
Tre Morgan and Landon Marceaux shined bright, with the Tiger leadoff hitter going 4-for-5 with a triple and two RBI and three hits to start an inning. Marceaux earned yet another quality start, throwing 6.1 innings where he allowed three earned runs off seven hits and allowed just two walks while striking out 11 on 104 pitches.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The LSU Tigers have lost their fifth Southeastern Conference series of the season as they fell 17-10 to No. 1 Arkansas in game one of a Saturday doubleheader.
The Tigers (25-17, 6-14 SEC) were ambushed to start the game as the Razorbacks took an early 5-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
In the bottom of the second inning, LSU got on the scoreboard as Giovanni DiGiacomo scored on a wild pitch to trim the lead to 5-1.

Dave Van Horn has tweaked is starting lineup for the nightcap. Braydon Webb replaces Zack Gregory in left field and as the leadoff man, plus Jacob Nesbit replaces Cullen Smith at third base. He will hit in the 9-hole, moving Casey Opitz and Jalen Battles up a spot in the order.

OXFORD, Miss. (WAFB) - Starting pitcher AJ Labas (3-0) went the distance against No. 9 Ole Miss and threw the first complete game of the season for the Tigers as they took the series.
Labas, scattered 10 hits across nine innings, allowing two runs and struck out six batters. LSU (24-14, 6-11 SEC) won their second SEC series of the season in the 7-2 win over Ole Miss (27-12, 9-8 SEC).

OXFORD, Miss. (WAFB) - No. 9 Ole Miss avoided the series sweep against LSU with an eight run eighth inning to tie the game at 9-9 and then walked it off in with a solo home run in the ninth at Swayze Field in Oxford, Miss.
The Tigers (24-15, 6-12 SEC) erupted for nine runs on 12 hits against Ole Miss (28-12, 10-8 SEC) to take a 9-1 through the first seven innings.

Entering the eighth inning things started to fall apart for LSU as Ole Miss rallied and scored 8 runs including two home runs. The first on a three-run blast to make it 9-5 and then a grand slam by TJ McCants that would tie the game later in the eighth inning at 9-9.
