Suspect in deadly Murfreesboro shooting arrested in Cheatham County

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WTVF) â A man accused in a deadly shooting at a party in Murfreesboro was arrested in Cheatham County on Tuesday.
Murfreesboro police said 23-year-old Larry Johnson has been charged with first-degree murder following the shooting. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court on April 5.

Police said one person was killed in the shooting, 21-year-old Giovanni Gillis, and two others were hurt. Investigators said the shooting happened during a fight between several people during a party at a duplex on Ewing Boulevard early Saturday morning.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The suspect in this past weekend’s fatal shooting of 21-year-old Giovanni Gilis on Ewing Blvd. has been arrested in Cheatham County, TN.
23-Year old Larry Johnson, II was taken into custody without incident by members of the Rutherford County Criminal Warrants Division, with assistance from the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office and Murfreesboro Police Department detectives Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 9. He’s charged with first-degree murder.
Johnson is being held without bond at the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. He has a court appearance on April 5th in Rutherford County General Sessions Court.

(MURFREESBORO) More on the early Saturday (2/6/2020) morning altercation and shooting at a house party on Ewing Boulevard. 21-year old Giovanni Gillis was shot and killed, two others were hospitalized, and bullets grazed two other party goers.
Police Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told NewsRadio WGNS that the two others who were shot were driven by friends to the ER at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital, and later taken to Nashville. They are in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.
The two other partygoers who were grazed by bullets, refused medical treatment.
