Restaurants can no longer offer indoor dining while the surrounding county is listed in extreme risk for the spread of COVID-19.
Just a few hours after our COVID Q&A on April 27th, the expected hammer came down: Jackson, Klamath, and Josephine Counties were going back into Extreme Risk status.
The designation increases restrictions, banning activities like indoor dining. County status will now be reviewed weekly, so affected counties could see their lot improved as soon as Friday, May 7th.

MEDFORD, Ore. With Jackson County preparing to move back into Extreme Risk status, Jackson County Public Health is urging people to seek out COVID-19 vaccines. At the county s Expo vaccination center, appointments are not needed.
“If we want to get back to the things and people we love, the fastest way to do this is to get vaccinated,” said Dr. Jim Shames, Jackson County Health Officer.

WHITE CITY, Ore. – Today Gov. Kate Brown visited Southern Oregon and toured Amy’s Kitchen.
The facility has been the location of multiple coronavirus outbreaks throughout the pandemic; however, Dr. Jim Shames with Jackson County Public Health has called the facility a good example of what businesses should do to protect employees, citing multiple COVID-19 precautions in place.
Gov. Brown got an up-close look at operations inside, where temperature checks are required at the door, random rapid testing is done on employees to ensure the virus isn’t spreading undetected, dividers are placed throughout the production line to ensure protection, masks are required and all employees along the production line are at least 6 ft. apart. CENTRAL POINT, Ore. More than 1 million Oregonians have been vaccinated against Covid-19, and still some locals hold onto concerns about receiving a shot meant to protect them and those around them who could be exposed to the coronavirus.
Lake County Public Health Chief Executive Officer, Charlie Tviet says he finds that people are concerned about the science behind some of the vaccines, “and the Johnson and Johnson seems to be a good alternative.”
