At bars, like the old days—but not

06/09/2021 The social scene in West Marin is picking up steam as Covid-19 restrictions wind down and bars open up. The Old Western joined Papermill Creek and Smiley’s Schooner Saloons in reopening last week, and bartenders are excited to be back. Customers are returning to improved venues, with better lighting, fresh paint and new pool tables. They’re drinking a lot and tipping well. All eyes are on June 15, when capacity limits and mask requirements are set to fall away. Live music acts are booked, and people are ready to party. “When we finally got the go-ahead, it was exuberant,” said Freda Keltner, a bartender at the Western for the last six years. “It couldn’t have been more of a love fest.”

A Trip Down Memory Lane: Favourite Aussie Ads of Yesteryear

Trends and Insight 15 Add to collection Creatives from Australia take a trip down memory lane as they tell LBB’s Natasha Patel about their favourite campaigns from yesteryear and just what they love so much about them Nothing says nostalgia more than re-watching a clip on the TV that struck you as so relevant at some point in your youth. Save Our Seabirds begins search for new CEO | Longboat Key

The search has begun to replace Save Our Seabirds CEO David Pilston, who plans to retire and leave the position at the end of August. Pilston has been the CEO since 2012.  Pilston took over a struggling organization with deteriorating facilities. He has helped make the center at 1708 Ken Thompson Parkway a high-functioning seabird rehabilitation and release station that rescues about 5,000 birds a year. During his tenure, revenues have tripled, board chair Jim Curtis said in a press release.  We ve got a good team in place and we ve come a long way in nine years, Pilston said. We re financially stable now, the facilities are dramatically improved and we have the capital campaign in place. When I joined in 2012, the treasurer of the board told me she thought the place had five months to live. We ve been in the black every year since then.
