The Utah women traveled to Pullman, Wash. for the first dual meet of the 2021 season. The Utes broke three Gibb Pool records en route to downing the Cougars 140-118. Emma Broome broke the pool record in the 100 back after finishing with a time of 54.37 seconds. The 200 medley relay team of Broome, Sadie Edwards, Emma Lawless and Maddie Woznick broke the pool record with a time of 1:41.20, while Utah s 400 free relay team of Woznick, Kayla Miller, Lawless and Audrey Reimer broke the record with a 3:24.33. Utah won seven events against Washington State in the opening dual. Just so proud of the girls and the way they competed tonight said head coach Joe Dykstra. We came up here and raced with a shorthanded roster, traveled all day right before the meet, but still managed to put up a few best times and broke three WSU pool records. I couldn t be prouder of the resiliency of this group.
The Cougars, who swept a pair of dual meets with Idaho in November, have scheduled home meets against Utah (Jan. 15) and Idaho (Jan. 29) along with a road meet at Seattle U (Jan. 23). Times will be announced at a later date.
