IN BALOCHISTAN, thousands of people earn their livelihoods through illegally transporting oil or diesel from across the border. With widespread unemployment, economic activities being next to nil due to lack of industries and little involvement of the private sector in the province, even graduates from well-known varsities have turned towards smuggling. For them and those being aware of the ground realities here, the illegal transportation of oil/diesel from across the border is not smuggling but business.

LAHORE: The province-wide protests by students against on-campus examinations on Tuesday took an ugly turn as several students were baton-charged and injured by the security guards of a private university in the provincial capital.

Lahore, Jan 27 : Over 500 students were booked for vandalism and arson during a protest outside a private university in Lahores Johar Town on Wednesday.
According to the police, at least 500 students have been named in the case registered at Nawab Town police station.
The case was registered on the request submitted by the security in-charge of the private university, Geo News reported.
The students have been demanding to conduct the examinations virtually after online classes.
A day earlier, several private university students sustained injuries after they engaged in clashes with security guards during demonstrations against in-person examinations.

LAHORE: Hundreds of private university students on Tuesday clashed with the security guards during demonstrations against in-person examinations and as a result, several sustained injuries. The students have been demanding online exams because classes were also held virtually.
