In a virtual press conference Tuesday, May 4, Executive Director Jocelyn Badiola, director of the DA-Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) called on farmers, fisherfolks, and entrepreneurs to apply for a much-needed financial assistance before their office.
“I encourage everyone, if you want to get into agriculture, you don’t have to worry about your working capital because we have programs that can provide loans at very easy terms, zero interest, no collateral, and five to 10 years to pay depending on your project cycle,” Badiola said.
“And tutulungan po namin kayong gumawa ng (We will help you come up with a) business plan and we have available training because we link with ATI (Agriculture Training Institute). All you have to do is to go to ACPC access and sign up if you are interested and we will schedule you for a program briefing,” the director added.
QUEZON CITY, Mar. 31 As the African Swine Fever (ASF) incidence is at its lowest level since August 2020, the Department of Agriculture (DA) is set to implement the government’s P600-million swine repopulation program, focusing initially on previously affected areas that are no longer under quarantine and now classified as “pink” and “yellow” zones.
“We are heartened that the ASF incidence is waning, which as of March 26, 2021, has registered 253 cases, versus 358 cases in January 2021, 330 cases in February 2021, and the highest level at 1,773 cases in August 2020,” said Agriculture Secretary William Dar.
The favorable development was reported by Director Reildrin Morales of the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI), during a recent meeting presided by Secretary Dar with DA regional directors, Director Jocelyn Badiola of the DA-Agricultural Credit and Policy Council (ACPC) and President Jovy Bernabe of the DA-Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).

The agency has just launched the AgriKonek app–a downloadable front-end application where “agripreneurs” can post their products, quantity of their produce, price, and other production information.
Thanks to this virtual venue, potential buyers or clients can see the farmers and fishers conveniently and make their orders online. This is very similar to the way that shopping is done in urban centers these days, with buyers either too busy or too frightful to catch the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
“With the launching of this new technology, we are hoping to attract more young blood to give the Philippine agriculture a second look, and consider to start a journey of not only becoming agripreneurs, but also partners in national development,” DA Secretary William Dar said in a statement Wednesday, Feb. 17.

Agriculture Secretary William Dar said Monday, February 8, that they will extend zero-interest loans as operating capital to market vendors’ associations in the National Capital Region (NCR).
“This will enable them to buy pork carcasses directly from hog raisers and major agricultural commodities from farmers’ cooperatives and associations (FCAs), and sell these at reasonable prices to consumers in Metro Manila,” Dar said.
“We are initiating this market vendors’ financing program to institutionalize mutual partnership between them and FCAs, and create a ‘win-win’ situation benefiting producers, retailers and consumers alike,” he added.
Under the financing program, which will be administered by the DA’s Agricultural Credit and Policy Council (ACPC), market vendors’ associations may avail of up to P5 million as working capital at zero-interest and payable in three to five years.
