A teen, who was reportedly fishing near the spillway at nearby Dam B Reservoir reportedly drowned on Sunday afternoon.
The volunteers of the Jasper County Emergency Corps and others were called to the location on the south end of the lake shortly before 7:00 when it was reported that the incident had occurred.
In addition to the corps, officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Jasper County Sheriff s Department are also there and soon recovered the body in an area between the flood gates and the Willis Hydroelectric Unit.
Jasper County Mitchel Newman said the complete details were not available but it appeared that the victim of the drowning and others had walked to the location from the east side of the dam.
Jasper County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Scotty Duncan said Thursday that investigations into recent residential burglaries in the Curtis Community are continuing, but so far there have been no arrests

JASPER COUNTY â A Hammond man hiding behind a dumpster in rural Jasper County was arrested for theft and false identifying by the countyâs sheriffâs department on April 7.
Jasper County Sheriff Pat Williamson was the first to arrive at the scene of County Road 400 North and County Road 250 East in the early morning hours of April 7. Even though the subject initially provided a false identity, Williamson was able to determine he was talking with Benjamin L. Elders, 35, of Hammond.
An investigation later revealed that Eldersâs vehicle broke down behind a nearby residence. Police also determined that Elders had broken into a detached garage and items from the garage were located inside the broken down vehicle.

JASPER COUNTY â A Wheatfield man faces multiple charges from a pair of incidents that led to two outstanding arrest warrants for failure to appear.
Jason M. Kearney, 32, was arrested after warrants were issued by the Jasper County Circuit Court on March 3.
The first warrant with an offense date of March 24, 2020, was issued for failure to appear for the following offenses:
⢠Dealing in methamphetamine, 10 or more grams (Level 2 felony);
⢠Two charges of dealing in meth between 5-10 grams with enhancing (Level 2 felonies);
⢠Two charges of dealing in cocaine manufacturing, delivery and financing, 1-5 grams with enhancing (Level 5 felonies);

JASPER COUNTY â A final search in an area where suspected human skeletal remains were found last month was conducted March 5 with the assistance of five cadaver dogs.
Participating in the search were the Jasper County Coronerâs Office, the Jasper County Sheriffâs Department and cadaver dogs from Louisville, Ky., Brazil, Ind., and Greenfield, Ind.
According to a press release from the Jasper County Coronerâs Office, all remains that were discovered, including those found Feb. 27 about five miles northeast of Rensselaer, will be transported to the University of Indianapolis to be examined by Dr. Krista Latham.
