Most affected are inner-city residents who have relied on public transportation to commute. Case in point is Route 3 which has operated from Jasper Place to Cromdale for the past 60-plus years. Of Pioneer Ridge, formally of Marlborough Road, passed away, peacefully on Wednesday, April 28. Rose was born, raised and educated in Fort William. She was married to the late William (Bill) Bilinski. She will be lovingly remembered by her family, her daughter Fran (Don) Caddo; grandchildren Allan (Jackie), Terry (Donna) and Kevin (Shelley); great grandchildren Trevor, Chelsea, TJ, Olivia, Drew and Max; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill in 1984; mother and father; sister Helen Mazurski; sister Mary Osadchuk and nephew Harry Plumpton. She was a long time member of St. Paul s United Church and the focus of her entire life was her family. She spent countless hours helping her husband with the family business. She enjoyed gardening, baking, knitting, bowling, curling, and also playing cards. She loved picking blueberries and wild mushrooms with her late husband.   EDMONTON A long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion was treated to a surprise birthday drive-by on Sunday. Over an dozen vehicles drove by to wish Lawrence Summers a happy 94th birthday. “I was planning on a quiet evening… because I still have a few more of these (beers) left, so I’m celebrating a wee bit,” said Summers. “I don’t have words to explain how I feel, it’s just excitement, surprise, and it was wonderful.” Among the well-wishers were members of the legion, which Summers has been involved with for around 56 years. “We all love Lawrence, Lawrence is great and with the loss of our veterans it’s important to support them and show them that we all still care,” said Shauna Seip, a member of the Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Jasper Place 255 Royal Canadian Legion.
