With the intense spat erupting between the Centre and microblogging site Twitter over blocking of certain accounts, a new app has found a way to prominence Koo.
The desi version of Twitter co-founded by Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidwatka has been in the spotlight, with several politicians and ministers nudging the microblogging site.
The app launched in early 2020 garnered attention by winning the government s Atmanirbhar App Innovation Challenge. Following the outcome of the Atmanirbhar App Innovation Challenge, the app was also mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Mann Ki Baat address.

In the past few days, Twitter and the Indian government have been in a scuffle over the blocking of tweets and accounts of several users, related to the ongoing farmers protest.
As a result, the Indian app Koo received a big push from IT ministers in the country and witnessed a substantial hike in the number of users in the last few days.
According to Google Play Store, the app currently has a rating of 4.5 and has been downloaded by more than 1 million users.

Koo app is rising to fame as Twitter and the Indian government got off on a wrong foot on various issues. But as the Made-in-India app grew in popularity, it also drew a lot of criticism - mostly based on misinformation that is being passed along the internet.
There was a serious allegation against Koo app for leaking personal data of its users. This surely didn t sit well with 3 million people who joined the platform so far and many more who were on the fence about jumping the ship. But as it turns out, Koo is safe and has no red flags, at least ones we know of yet.
