Tyrannosaurus rex specimen (aka Stan ) to be installed in its new headquarters in Richmond, VA. The replica dinosaur skeleton is one of only ten in the United States and the only one in Virginia.
This Wednesday, April 21, almost 30 years after Stan’s excavation, Great Minds will install their very own T. rex weighing approximately 1100 lbs. and standing 14 feet tall and 40 feet long. The installation will be led by none other than Pete Larson and will be broadcast in real time via a livestream and Facebook Live. Today’s installment of Old Mission History comes from my Mom’s scrapbook, which is a wealth of fascinating information about not only her life growing up in the south, but also after she married my Dad in 1946 and moved to the Old Mission Peninsula in 1947. They met at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.
Now in my possession are many large scrapbooks full of super-cool stuff dating back to her childhood through her school and college years to life on the OMP.
