PERRY COUNTY (WSIL) Thursday is National Day of Prayer, it s observed across the US each year, and after having to cancel in 2020 because of the pandemic, this year the remembrance has special meaning for people in our region.
Almost one dozen people gathered at the Perry County Court House Thursday afternoon taking time to pray for healing, and celebrate in the prospect of more people returning to church after a year at home. Last year we got robbed because they had everybody locked up, the church has been on lockdown, says George Culley, Founder of Least Of The Brethren Food Pantry. But the good news, His truth shall go marching on, like the Battle Hymn Republic.

The Least of the Brethren food pantry worked to help the community Friday.
They held a food drop, which provided around $350-$500 worth of food to families in need.
The food was distributed to the pantry by the St. Louis Area Food Bank.
Organizers say this is their way to bless families during the holidays. We are here to feed people until the end, said pantry founder George Culley. A hungry stomach doesn t discriminate. If you re red, white, yellow, black, when you re hungry you re hungry. It doesn t care what your color of skin is.
