Energy Subcommittee of the House Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications Committee
The Energy Subcommittee of the House Energy, Utilities, and Telecommunications Committee, chaired by Representative Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), met this morning to consider two measures.
HB 76, authored by Representative John Carson (R-Marietta), amends O.C.G.A. § 46-4-164 to increase the percentage limitation of EMC investments in a gas affiliate. Current law allows investments up to 15%. This bill increases that amount to 60%. The subcommittee took no testimony on the bill and moved the bill DO PASS.
HB 150, authored by Representative Bruce Williamson (R-Monroe), amends O.C.G.A. § 46-1-6 to prohibit local governmental entities from adopting policies that prohibit the connection or reconnection of any utility service based on the source of energy or fuel. ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - On Thursday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced the Georgia Lottery Corporationâs most profitable first half since its inception in 1993.
A release from the governorâs office said the Georgia Lottery generated more than $731,281,000 in profits for the first half of the fiscal year 2021, bringing the total transferred to the State Treasuryâs Lottery for Education Account to more than $23 billion.
The record first half includes profits of $347.9 million.
âThis record success is great news for students in communities throughout Georgia,â said Gov. Kemp. âGeorgia Lotteryâs continued success ensures that Georgiaâs students and families remain the ultimate winners through Georgiaâs HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgiaâs Pre-K Program.â

Moving quickly after last week’s budget hearings, the subcommittees of the House Appropriations Committee convened in sequence this morning to sign off on their assigned agency budgets. The Public Safety Subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, chaired by Representative Bill Hitchens (R-Rincon), reviewed the changes to the Governor s proposed budget for Amended FY21, which include:
Provision of funds for a temporary judge on the Court of Appeals;
