Ranchi, March 4 : Three Jharkhand Police personnel were killed and two others injured, including one from CRPF, as an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off in West Singhbum district on Thursday morning.
The explosive device was planted by the Maoists.
The incident took place around 8.45 a.m. when a pressure IED blast took place in thick forested area near Hoyahatu village under Toklo police station area in West Singhbhum.
Central Reserve Police Force s (CRPF) 197 Battalion along with the Jharkhand Jaguar (AG 11) of the state police were on an operation in the area when the incident took place, said CRPF Spokesperson Dalip Ambesh said.

West Singhbhum: Two jawans of the Jharkhand Jaguar (JJ) unit lost their lives and three others were left injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) blast on Thursday morning in the forest planted by Naxals in the Jharjhara area of Jharkhand`s West Singhbhum district.
Confirming the incident, Jharkhand Police said that the incident happened in the forest area of village Hoyahatu, under Toklo police station.
The martyred Jawans include Constable Hardwar Shah and Constable Kiran Surin. The injured have been airlifted to Ranchi. The incident happened around 8:45 am when police teams consisting of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and Jaguar Assault team were to replace a temporary camp, said Jharkhand Police.

Three security personnel were killed and two injured in a Naxal-triggered IED blast in the forests of Jharkhand s West Singhbhum district on Thursday, officials said.
Three men of the special unit of the state police, Jharkhand Jaguars, were killed in the improvised explosive device (IED) blast that took place around 8:45 AM in Hoyahatu village under Toklo police station area of the district.
A jawan of the Jharkhand Jaguars and a Central Reserve Police Force personnel from its 197th battalion were injured in the blast, they said. The joint team of Jharkhand Jaguars and CRPF was out for an anti-Maoist operation in the area.

Three jawans of Jharkhand Jaguar were killed and two others seriously injured in an IED blast triggered by the outlawed naxal outfit CPI-Maoist under Toklo thana area in West Singhbhum district bordering Khunti district about 160 kms away from here on Thursday morning.
The injured have been air-lifted to Ranchi for treatment.
Among those killed, two were identified as Haridwar Shah and Kiran Suri, both constables belonging to Jharkhand Jaguar Assault Group-11.
Condition of one of the injured is said to be extremely critical.
