Quiksilvr Bluechip was a dominant winner in 1:56.3 in the $15,000 winners-over trotting feature Wednesday at Harrington Raceway.
The five-year-old Credit Winner gelding was sent to the front from post position by driver Victor Kirby and they never relented in the three-length score over Pardon My Way and Jammin Jack.
Trained by his driver and co-owner Kirby, it was the second win of the year for Quiksilvr Bluechip, who is also owned by Tyler Raymer, Stephen Moss and Brian Hoffecker. He paid $2.20 to win. Former Harrington driving champs Kirby and Allan Davis each had success on the card, as Davis had four wins, including three in succession in races 3 through 5, while Kirby had a driving triple.
The Credit Winner gelding Bluffinner is currently in career best form after lowering his speed record to 1:53.2 while taking the $14,400 trotting feature at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Thursday afternoon (May 6).
Shinkansen, just favoured over Bluffinner in the wagering, kept his rival outside past a :27.4 quarter, but once trainer-driver Trond Smedshammer and Bluffinner got to the lead, the rest were racing for second money. Middle fractions of :57 and 1:25 preceded the final clocking, with Bluffinner drawing clear up the backstretch and going on to his third straight win for Purple Haze Stables LLC.
There were also a pair of $13,000 fast-class trots for the older set. In the first, favourite Patriarch Hanover set the piece, but the Theo Josseln mare Eva Dairpet FR, driven by Dexter Dunn, ground him down late to win in 1:53.4. Lorie and Paul Davis Muscle Ave ($24.60, Allan Davis) captured Wednesday s (April 21) featured trotting event at Harrington Raceway with a 1:56.1 front-end triumph over Jammin Jack and Our White Knight.
Muscle Ave, a eight-year-old Muscle Mass gelding, controlled the tempo in his 29th career win for trainer and co-owner Paul Davis, who had a double for the second straight Wednesday, also winning with Skyway Raptor ($4.80, Russell Foster).
Davis led all drivers with three wins on the card; Montrell Teague and Corey Callahan both had driving doubles.
