Rajkot: A 35-year-old man from Bihar who was beaten up over a petty issue on Sunday in Jetpur town of Rajkot succumbed to injuries on Monday.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Akhil Sheikh. He had returned from Bihar on Sunday morning. Akhil and his brother Jamil Sheikh worked at a sari factory in Jetpur.
Police said that on Sunday afternoon, Jamil had entered into an altercation with one Jitu (30) from a factory unit in Dhareshwar GIDC of Jetpur. “When Akhil intervened, Jitu beat him up with a stick. Akhil suffered serious injuries on his head and was first rushed to Jetpur and then referred to the civil hospital in Rajkot, where he succumbed on Monday,” said police.

It has been revealed that it was a contract killing and the police have claimed that the murder was carried out on the orders of Najibullah, a Thane Maharashtra NCP leader and corporator.
The arrested accused identified as Irfan Sonu is a resident of Gulariha s Kheria in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. He was arrested by the UP STF in Lucknow on Saturday afternoon.

THANE: Kin of the MNS functionary Jamil Shaikh, who was shot dead in broad daylight over a month back, reiterated that the case should be transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as the Thane crime branch have reportedly not made any significant headway in the probe.
The crime branch sleuths, who were camping at Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, have returned with no traces of other identified accused.
The deceased, Jamil Shaikh, was shot dead with a single round fired on wheels on November 23, allegedly by arrested accused Shahid Shaikh, 31, who was riding the bike while the pillion rider shot him from behind.
