PESHAWAR: Heavy rains disrupted the power transmission system across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday night and Tuesday, causing hours long breakdown.
The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco)’s spokesperson said in a statement that inclement weather had affected 240 feeders after trees fell down on transmission lines that damaged cables. The statement said that power supply had been restored from 222 feeders while repair work on 18 others was under way.
It said that a crisis management cell had been established at Wapda House Peshawar to ensure smooth supply of electricity during eid and added that Pesco’s chief executive Engineer Jabar Khan would monitor the cell. The statement said that power supply from Kohat Road grid station had been resumed after installation of second MVA40 transformer.

‘Authorities never paid heed to our repeated pleas’

Bandipora, Apr 06 (KNO): Owing to the lackadaisical approach from the administration, locals in Banilpora village of North Kashmir’s Bandipora spent Rs 6 lakh from their own pocket to construct a road leading to their area.
Locals told the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that they have collected donation around Rs 6 lakh and later constructed the road leading to their area (Molvi-Mohalla) from Banilpora.
Locals said that they approached authorities many times, “but they never paid heed to our repeated pleas.”
“It took us around three years to collect the money and construct the road,” they said.
Logar Ex-District Governor Assassinated in Kabul
Unidentified gunmen on Wednesday morning in Kabul s PD8 shot and killed Sayed Wakil Agha, the former district governor of Logar’s Charkh’s district, and then escaped the scene.
“There is no security in the country, we expect the government to take action and improve the security situation. How long should the people keep getting killed?” said Amanullah, a resident in Kabul.
In PD3 of Kabul, gunmen attacked and wounded Rasoul Khan, a security official in the city, and the assailants escaped the scene.
“They (attackers) were riding in a Hilux car, there were two armed men inside, they fired at his head, the people tried to detain them but the attackers took the car and flew,” said Lima, an eyewitness.
