Flash Flood Emergency in Birmingham Area as Deadly Storms Continue To Rake Across the South

The National Weather Service in Birmingham declared a flash flood emergency Tuesday evening for portions of Jefferson and Shelby counties.
A flash flood emergency is a rare alert that indicates an imminent, life-threatening danger of flooding.
The emergency was in effect until 8:15 p.m. CDT. The NWS warned that additional rainfall of 2 inches was possible. This will exacerbate ongoing flash flooding & cause additional flash flooding, the NWS tweeted.
Thunderstorms possible in Dallas-Fort Worth this weekend
Although severe weather is not expected in Dallas-Fort Worth, there could be isolated storms that linger in the area through Sunday morning.

The weekend won’t be a washout, but North Texas could see some showers and storms.
Most of Saturday is expected to be dry, but the main event will arrive Saturday evening as a line of storms is expected to develop out west and move toward the east, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist Grant Johnston.
