2D leaders and feed the STEM
2D talent pipeline by awarding and sponsoring women at critical points in their careers, in each of the STEM
2D disciplines: Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, Manufacturing and Design.
Eligibility
The applicant must be a woman working in the field(s) of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Manufacturing and Design (STEM
2D).
The applicant must be an assistant female professor or global equivalent faculty position at the time of application at an accredited academic university, institution or design school.

What can a career in STEM offer recent graduates? In a new mini documentary created by University of Limerick (UL) PhD candidate Alice Parkes, 10 women working in different areas of science, tech, engineering and maths share their insights.
Here, Parkes explains how and why she made the documentary, and why challenging STEM stereotypes is particularly important in addressing the industry’s ongoing gender imbalance.
‘I wanted to show young students that you can love sports, travel, surfing, gymnastics etc and still thrive in STEM courses’
âI grew up in Ballina in the 1990s, and there was no visibility for these kinds of careers, she tells Her. When we went to Cleveland, we got to see the wind tunnels and how the ice formations would affect an aircraftâs flight, it was the first kind of exposure I had to space. It was one of those random things. You go on holiday with your family and you do all the tourists spots and then suddenly one of you is drawn in by something. I always tell parents to expose their kids to whatever you can, you never know what your child will find interest in.
I keep reminding myself it s okay to fail. 100 percent of the shots that you don t take you’re going to miss, so you may as well take the shot. Keep at it, don t doubt yourself and let your fears bother you.
