GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Johnson County 911 Center received a call on Monday afternoon, just after 4:30, concerning a child who had been struck by a vehicle in the Winterbrook Mobile Home Community, in Greenwood.
Law enforcement said the victim, a two-year-old boy, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved is a 59-year-old Greenwood man and is an employee of Winterbrook. The pickup truck he was driving is owned by the mobile home park.
According to the accident report, the driver reportedly stopped at the intersection of L Court and Shady Brook Heights. He said he looked both ways and thought it was clear for him to proceed. After turning South on Shady Brook Heights, the driver stated that he had just ran over something. After stopping the truck and realizing who he had struck he began calling for help. The driver reportedly said that he never saw the child because the truck was too high off the ground.

GREENWOOD, Ind. A two-year-old boy was struck and killed by a pick-up truck in a Greenwood neighborhood Monday afternoon.
Johnson County sheriff s deputies were called to the scene of the accident at the Winterbrook Mobile Home community on West Countyline Road just after 4:30 p.m.
Investigators say an employee of the mobile home park was driving a company-owned pick-up truck when he struck the child. The boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other details about how the accident occurred were made available Monday evening. Police and the Johnson County Coroner s Office are still collecting information for their investigation into the crash.

The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post received a call from Johnson County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday, April 07, 2021, requesting KSP’s assistance regarding a death investigation scene.
KSP investigators responded to a residence on Slate Branch Road where they located 51 year old Terry Hall outside the residence. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene by Johnson County Coroner’s Office. Hall’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The cause of death remains under investigation.
Detective Kevin Newsome is leading the investigation. He was assisted on scene by KSP personnel and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
Holden Man Killed in JoCo Motorcycle Accident
A Holden man was killed in a motorcycle accident that occurred Tuesday in Johnson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a southbound 2012 Harley Davidson, driven by 56-year-old Samuel M. Chapman of Holden was on U Highway south of County Road SW 250th at 5:30 p.m., when the Harley traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch, ejecting the driver.
Chapman was pronounced dead at 6:26 p.m. by Dr. Brigg. The body was taken to the Johnson County Coroner s Office.
Johnson County Deputies assisted the Patrol.
