Effective today, all Iowans over the age of 16 are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
Iowa Department of Public Health Interim Director Kelly Garcia says that while the eligibility has been expanded, it will take time to fully meet the demand for vaccines.
Finding a vaccination appointment has been a frustrating process. The Johnson County Public Health website has a page listing area vaccine providers; a link to that page is available below.
The state of Iowa offers vaccinate.iowa.gov to direct residents to vaccine providers, and an Iowa City man has developed a Twitter account that updates open appointments at area providers. It can be reached at IA Vaccine Alerts. And for those without internet access, 211 can be dialed to help book appointments.
