Marilyn Hagerty: 1941 blizzard hit home in North Dakota, Minnesota The late M.A. Johnson of Larimore, N.D., wrote about the devastating winter storm in his book, “Fifty Years of Country Storekeeping.” Written By: Marilyn Hagerty | × Seventy people died in the blizzard that hit this area 80 years ago in March. Headlines in the Grand Forks Herald said three were from Grand Forks. Thirty-nine perished in North Dakota. And 28 died in Minnesota in the blizzard of 1941. These days the talk has been of the extreme cold. Often, when talk turns to blizzards, I turn to a book written by the late M.A. Johnson of Larimore, N.D.
