A lane restriction is scheduled for Friday on northbound Interstate 83 on the John Harris Memorial (South) Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River in the area around Exit 43 (Second Street) in the City of Harrisburg.
A contractor is scheduled to inspect repairs made this past winter to an expansion dam on the bridge, a press release said.
The right lane will be closed from approximately 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The left and center lanes of northbound I-83 and ramp to Second Street will remain open during this work, according to the release.

Repairs are complete and the bridge is open to unrestricted traffic. The Lemoyne/Lowther Street on-ramp to northbound I-83, which also was closed for this work, is open.

Northbound Interstate 83 is now open between Exit 41 (Lemoyne/Camp Hill) in Cumberland County and Exit 43 (2nd Street) in Dauphin County.
This section of the interstate was closed Saturday night for emergency repairs to a damaged expansion dam near 2nd Street on the John Harris Memorial (South) Bridge spanning the Susquehanna River in the City of Harrisburg, according to a press release, which continued:

PennDOT will be closing northbound lanes of the John Harris Bridge in Cumberland and Dauphin counties between Jan. 9 and 11.

The section of Interstate 83 north that runs across the John Harris Memorial (South) Bridge will be closed over the weekend for emergency repairs, PennDOT said.
The bridge’s contractor is fixing a damaged expansion dam on the bridge between Saturday night and Monday morning. The repairs will prevent further damage to the bridge structure below and improve the ride quality across the bridge, PennDOT said.
