Younger: Update On Why Los Alamos Residents Are Slow To Receive Vaccinations Los Alamos I would like to provide an update on my column of February 8 (link) regarding vaccination of the residents of Los Alamos County. Los Alamos National Laboratory Medical Director Sara Pasqualoni has been told by State of New Mexico Department of Health officials that the Laboratory’s allotment of vaccine comes from the State supply and not that of Los Alamos County. This is welcome news, but other State officials disagree on the details of the allocation process. I still think that as a national laboratory LANL should receive vaccine from a national stockpile. There are a number of facilities and activities at the Laboratory that cannot be shut down and that are vital to national security. This should be recognized by the federal government, just as it recognizes the special priority of certain Department of Defense missions.
