In the latest Crops Watch installment
in association with Terrachem, John Mulhare and Dr. Robert Beattie – both of Terrachem, discuss mid-late season growth regulation, correct use of biostimulants, and also the role of specific products in helping to reduce ramularia development in barley.
Dr. Robert Beattie highlighted that most winter barley crops across the country in general were at GS32-33 with some crops at GS37. As mentioned by Robert in the video (below) when barley is at GS37 it has only reached half its final height. This is why Terpal is target at GS37 for maximum shortening effect.
In the first winter wheat instalment of the ‘Crops Watch Series’
in association with Terrachem, John Mulhare and Robert Beattie – both from Terrachem – discuss the performance and use of Corteva’s novel new fungicide Inatreq active.
With winter wheat crops currently showing significant levels of septoria tritici, and certain varieties also exhibiting considerable yellow rust – not to mention the continuing decline in performance of SDHI (succinate dehydrogenase inhibitor) and azole chemistry – the arrival to the spray stores of this new wheat fungicide could not be more significant or better timed.
‘Inatreq’ as it is widely known, is the chemical fenpicoxamid, from the picolinamide family. Simply put, Inatreq active comes from a completely new chemical family for cereal fungicides, with no known cross resistance between it and any other chemical family currently in use in Irish cereal growing today.
Irish wheat growers get use of novel fungicide ahead of UK >More in
Irish wheat growers will have a new very effective fungicide this spring a year ahead of UK farmers giving them an advantage in controlling damaging diseases such as septoria and yellow rust, and lifting yields.
Inatreq is a new active with a different site of action to other cereal fungicides which will boost disease control and help slow down any build-up in resistance to treatments.
The agrochemicals and seeds giant Corteva Agriscience is launching the fungicide in Ireland as a straight to be sold under the brand names of Questar, Peacoq and Aquino. There will be no co-formulation, but it is mandatory to mix it, and the preferred partner is the top-selling azole prothioconazole.
