Martins Ferry man arrested for allegedly filming nude child | News, Sports, Jobs

Times Leader Staff Writer MARTINS FERRY ­– A Martins Ferry resident has been arrested for allegedly filming a young child naked and then sharing those videos with others. Police Chief John McFarland said that Scott A. Lewis of 106 N. Ridge Drive, Martins Ferry, was arrested Sunday on several charges including: 14 counts of illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material; 16 counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor (creation, production, publishing obscene material); two counts of endangering children; two counts of voyeurism; and two counts of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. McFarland said his department received information from the Internet Crimes Against Children group about Lewis. The group received its information from its cyber tip line via the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Enough money has been raised to pay for the creation and erection of the monument. MARTINS FERRY Now that enough money has been raised plans to erect a new veterans memorial at Riverview Cemetery are moving forward. Terry Wildman, committee member and a Vietnam war veteran, said $31,950 has been raised via donations from individuals and the sale of memorial bricks that will line walkways leading to the memorial. The granite monument will honor each branch of the military along with honoring first responders as well.

Weirton residents face drug charges after stop in Martins Ferry | News, Sports, Jobs

Sports writer MARTINS FERRY Two Weirton residents are facing drug charges following a traffic stop in Martins Ferry on Sunday. According to information provided by Martins Ferry Police Chief John McFarland, Jenard M. Young, 31, of 3429 Orchard St., Weirton and Craig D. Elmore, 32, of 3632 Orchard St., Weirton both were arrested on charges of possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs. McFarland said an officer was performing traffic enforcement on Ohio Route 7 and stopped a 2012 Ford Fiesta. The vehicle, occupied by Young and Elmore, was traveling 72 mph in a 50 mph zone, he said. “When the officer made contact with the occupants of the vehicle, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was coming from the vehicle,” McFarland said via news release on the matter. “After a search of the vehicle, officers located four plastic bags containing suspected cocaine. The weight of the cocaine was 152 grams.”

Two suspects charged in connection to a home invasion

According to The Muskingum county Sheriff’s Office, on February 13th, deputies responded to a residence on Gills Hollow Rd. in Cannelsville where a single male victim in his 70’s was reportedly severely beaten, inside of the home. Two suspects – 38-year-old John McFarland (left) and 22-year-old John Hill (right) are in jail for multiple charges including felonious assault and aggravated burglary. The victim survived his injuries and further charges are possible, as the investigation is ongoing.
