A Royal Australian Air Force C-17A Globemaster III aircraft from Brisbane, carrying 17 medical specialists and additional resources including PPE and three ambulances, touched down at Nadi Airport yesterday.
Foreign Minister Nanaia Mahuta said a second group of New Zealand medical personnel was deployed as part of the joint Australian and New Zealand Medical Assistance Team to support Fiji s ongoing covid response.

Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says Fiji would have been in dire straits without the help Australia and New Zealand have given us.
He made these comments while farewelling the Alpha Australia New Zealand Medical Assistance Team and welcoming the Bravo team.
The Bravo team which arrived in the country last night has brought 3 fully equipped ambulances, 2,000kg of Personal Protective Equipment and medical supplies, 50 stretcher beds and 20 Oxygen concentrators.

The Australian and New Zealand Medical Assistance Team’s (ANZMAT’s) Bravo Team was formally welcomed by the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in Suva today.
A Facebook post on the Australia in Fiji page said the Bravo team will spend 28 days working alongside the Ministry of Health and Medical Services to battle this COVID-19 outbreak in Fiji.
The team will focus on:
Infection prevention and control.
Offering support to other facilities in Suva, including the FEMAT field set up, as required.
