"I know for everybody the biggest question is, ‘When is that going to happen?’ coach Matt Nagy said. "As time goes by and we see how things go, we’ll know and we’ll all see it and feel it."
Fields exuded confidence, conviction and maturity both during practice and on a Zoom call with the media a couple hours before the workout. The 22-year-old explained that rather than looking too far down the road, he was instead focusing on each day, each period, each play, on just perfecting that play and getting better. My short-term goals are just to be crisp with the huddle call, Fields said, making sure I m precise with my reads and stuff like that and really taking command of the huddle and show the guys out there that I am leading the offense. That s pretty much the list of short-term goals I have down for this weekend.

For selfish reasons, many of us would like to see Justin Fields as the Bears’ starting quarterback sooner rather than later. Sooner, meaning tomorrow.
We want to know if the kid can play. We want to be entertained by a player who can run and throw and chew gum at the same time without the player experiencing multiple organ failure. We want a
quarterback, simply because most of us have never seen one in a Bears uniform. Either they weren’t any good (don’t make me name names) or they couldn’t stay healthy (Jim McMahon).
Chicago Bears coach Matt Nagy will miss his first chance to work directly with quarterback Justin Fields and the rest of the 2021 class during this weekend s rookie minicamp.
