Ryan Pace seems ready to add a rookie QB

Ryan Pace seems ready to add a rookie QB Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace met the media on Tuesday, and he touched on a variety of topics including adding a rookie quarterback. Photo by Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images Ryan Pace’s reluctance to add rookie quarterbacks has been a hot topic for several years now, but with just two 30-something QBs signed to his current Chicago Bears roster, the 2021 NFL Draft seems to be the prime time for him to pick one. The Bears only have newly signed Andy Dalton (their 33-year old QB1), and hold over Nick Foles

Ryan Pace Speaks: Flexibility, Reality, Mongo, the Nagy Factor, Building the Board, More

Ryan Pace has mastered the art of saying many words while simultaneously saying nothing of substance. It’s that type of gumption that will keep the NFL’s other 31 teams guessing as to what Chicago will do in the 2021 NFL Draft. Nevertheless, I’ve pulled some interesting thoughts and highlights from Pace’s last press conference before Draft Weekend. NFL Draft: Whom the Bears should pick first - Chicago Sun-Times

Jonathan Bachman/Getty Images The Sun-Times’ Bears experts make their case for what the Bears should do when the draft starts Thursday night: Patrick Finley Whom will the Bears draft? Stanford quarterback Davis Mills. Mills isn’t the 20th best player in the draft. But he’ll certainly be drafted higher than No. 52, which is when the Bears pick next. One solution: the Bears could trade back in the first round, draft Mills and, because he was a Day 1 pick, retain the fifth-year option on a rookie contract. Is this pick a reach? For sure. But the draft never has had a wider variety of possible outcomes. Mills started only five games last year, thanks to the Pac-12’s truncated season and his own false positive coronavirus test before the opener. But Mills was the nation’s top drop-back passer recruit in high school. Stanford coach David Shaw swears by him.

It Sure Sounds Like Ryan Pace is Ready to Draft a Quarterback (Even If It s Not in Round 1)

It Sure Sounds Like Ryan Pace is Ready to Draft a Quarterback (Even If It s Not in Round 1) Social Navigation It Sure Sounds Like Ryan Pace is Ready to Draft a Quarterback (Even If It’s Not in Round 1) Even as we dream the biggest dreams of the Bears landing one of the upper tier quarterback prospects in the 2021 NFL Draft, there is a real chance Chicago’s QB pick won’t come until after Round 1. With that in mind, it’s worth noting the team is doing its homework on the alternatives: Three quarterbacks likely will get drafted in Rounds 2 and 3, and a handful of teams have done extra legwork on them a list that includes the #Bears, #Vikings, #Saints and #Bucs. @gmfb@nflnetworkpic.twitter.com/CcPhUOVI1U
