RICHMOND, Calif. - The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said Wednesday that the impact from Tuesday s petroleum product leak at the Chevron refinery long wharf in Richmond appears to be centered near the city s Keller Beach, but no oiled wildlife or public health impacts have been found.
In an update Wednesday evening, Chevron said as much as 750 gallons of the product were leaked.

Chevron refinery dumps oil into San Francisco Bay
“It is unacceptable to have this happen in our community. It causes harm to people’s health. It causes harm to bird life, wildlife and marine life.”
A Chevron oil refinery in Richmond, California dumped an estimated 600 gallons of petroleum into San Francisco Bay Tuesday.
The leak was not detected until an oil sheen on the water near the refinery was noticed around 3 p.m. Many local residents complained of the fumes from the spill, which eventually washed up on shore.
“It smelled like somebody spilled gasoline in front of my house. It smelled very very badly for [the] whole day,” Margaret Berczynski, told ABC7-KGO. “I’m really devastated. I cannot take my kids to the water… I’m really scared,” she added.

Environmental experts in California said the Chevron oil spill in the San Francisco Bay has not caused any environmental impact so far.
On Tuesday, an oil spill occurred at Chevron oil refinery in Richmond off the coast of the bay, spilling hundreds of gallons of diesel, according to an official readout.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife has not reported any environmental impacts or wildlife damages since the spill, and the Contra Costa County Public Health has not reported any public health risks as a result, according to a local ABC affiliate.

An oil spill at the Chevron Richmond Refinery that was leaking into San Francisco Bay was stopped late Tuesday afternoon, and the cleanup is underway, the energy company said in a statement.
Chevron first noticed the sheen on the water near the refinery at 3 p.m., and approximately 600 gallons of a petroleum and water mixture seeped into the bay before the leak was stopped.
Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office Community Warning System issued a public health advisory due to a leak at Richmond's Chevron refinery that spilled into the bay on Tuesday.
