Early COVID vaccine disparities in Contra Costa County
Data from Contra Costa Health Services shows more white people living in affluent communities have been vaccinated in the county compared to people in communities of color at the start of the vaccine rollout.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, Calif. - Data from Contra Costa Health Services shows more white people living in affluent communities have been vaccinated in the county compared to people in communities of color at the start of the vaccine rollout.
Vaccine equity was among the topics at Contra Costa County’s Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday. Health Services Director Anna M. Roth updated supervisors on the department’s response to COVID-19 where she and other officials detailed a plan aimed at ensuring the vaccine is distributed fairly once it is available to more age groups and the general public.

Contra Costa Co. COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts Continue To Build - Walnut Creek, CA - As of Monday, there were approximately 10,000 appointments available for eligible Contra Costa County residents to receive the vaccine.

Contra Costa County elected and health officials are set to host a virtual town hall on Friday to update the community on the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination rollout.
The Town Hall is set to take place on Facebook live from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Watch live by clicking on Assemblymember Buffy Wicks’ Facebook Page, or on Youtube here.
Wicks will join Contra Costa County Supervisor John Gioia and Contra Costa Health Services Deputy Officer Dr. Ori Tzvieli as panelists at the town hall.
“We will discuss the latest information on the COVID-19 vaccination roll-out in Contra Costa and take your questions via Facebook,” Gioia stated in his newsletter.
