Bengaluru: Union home minister Amit Shah on Sunday heaped praise on chief minister BS Yediyurappa’s leadership at two public events in Karnataka, in a sign of BJP’s tacit endorsement of his choice of ministers in the recent cabinet expansion.

Union Home Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party key leader Amit Shah, who is arriving in Bengaluru on a two-day State visit on Saturday, is set to participate in a meeting of the State core committee members along with Ministers.
The meeting, being held in Bengaluru on Saturday night, is expected to focus on improving the image of the party as well as the government in the wake of allegations that the government is yet to take off. Unlike his previous visits when his focus was completely on winning electoral battles, Mr. Shah has the task of boosting the image of the party and its government this time.

Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj K S Eshwarappa has said that there is a need to teach lessons to those who raise slogans in favour of Pakistan. “The tongues of those who raise pro-Pakistan slogans should be ripped off,” he said.
He was speaking at the Jan Sevak convention organised by BJP at Bantwal on Monday. “Anti-nationals have won elections in two gram panchayats in Dakshina Kannada district. We have anti-nationals who raise Pakistan Zindabad slogans in our country. The Congress does not condemn such pro-Pakistan slogans being raised in the country,” he alleged.
Eshwarappa said, “If you utter Pakistan Zindabad again, we will have to rip off your tongue. We will not take the law into our hands. We will teach lessons to such people through those who implement law and order,” he added.

MANGALURU: BJP in Karnataka is all set to hold ‘Jan Sevak’ conventions to make Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Pradhan Sevak’ vision popular in villages across the state, from Monday to Wednesday.
The party has already created five teams involving state and central leaders. Each team will participate in six conventions to cover 30 districts of the state. Chief minister B S Yediyurappa will inaugurate the convention in Mysuru, in the presence of BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel on Monday, said Ganesh Karnik, BJP state spokesperson.
Inaugural ceremonies will also be held on the same day at Madikeri, under the leadership of K S Eshwarappa, minister for rural development and panchayat raj. “There is no confirmation about Cabinet expansion after Makara Sankranti. But senior leadership will take a decision soon,” Laxman Savadi, Deputy CM and BJP leader, said in Belagavi on friday.
According to him, the visit of Home Minister Amit Shah to Karnataka on January 16 and 17, was not related to the expansion. He is coming to felicitate BJP workers who have won GP polls and to encourage the cadre as part of the Jan Sevak events.
CM B.S. Yediyurappa will inaugurate the Jan Sevak rally in Mysuru on January 11. Mr. Shah will participate in valedictory event on January 16 in Bengaluru. He is expected to visit Belagavi on January 17, to speak to party workers, Mr. Savadi said.
