STERLING An investigation resulted in a Sterling woman being arrested Friday and drugs seized.
Sterling Police, in conjunction with the Northern Worcester County Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at 31 Lakeview Ave.
A large quantity of heroin and fentanyl was seized, as was over $1,000 in drug proceeds.
Susan Ustaitis, 48, of that address, was arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin and fentanyl and possession with intent to deliver a schedule B drugs.
She was arraigned Friday in Clinton District Court and held of $10,000 cash bail. She will be back in court on March 4 for pretrial.
Sterling Police Chief Gary Chamberland credited Office Steve Mucci, who was recently assigned to the task force, with playing a major role in the month-long investigation.
Reflections: Ready to travel, but these accommodations may not be right for me
I love traveling, but I also have some standards: I want electricity and running water. An operating TV is nice, too, but not a necessity.
I have stayed at five-star hotels (when I could find a good deal), but also have a cabin we stay in when we travel to Maine that is “rustic,” but with modern facilities.
On a trip to Africa – a bucket list trip for my 50th birthday – some of our accommodations were upgraded tents. One or two were rustic. A couple turned off electricity at certain points during the day, which affected showers and lights, but they were relatively modern (considering we were out in the middle of African savannahs).
West Boylston and Boylston are getting in on the action - literally - with planned Hollywood filming.
Location officials met with selectmen in both towns Wednesday - Boylston by Zoom in the morning and in person with West Boylston at night - to get permissions to shut down an area of Route 140 between Route 70 in Boylston and Maple Street in West Boylston for two days of filming.
While the project is being called Marble, it is a not-so-secret name for the Dexter project, which will be filming all over the area in the next couple of months. The production crew has been working with several towns, including Lancaster and Sterling, to film in those towns.

Public safety workers in the region will be getting their first COVID-19 immunizations this week, as part of the state’s distribution plan.
Leominster will host one of the four clinics.
This is not a public clinic, but specifically for police, firefighters, EMTs and other public safety workers who are part of the initial distribution, Clinton Board of Health Chairman Steve Lipka told
The Item, a sister publication of the
Leominster Champion.
Leominster is part of the Montachusett Public Health Network. Lipka said departments in the region were asked how many immunizations they needed and about 800 doses were sent for the 11 towns in the district.

A national effort to help feed families has come to the region.
Margie White, a Shrewsbury resident, is the regional leader for Lasagna Love, supporting West Boylston, Boylston, Berlin, Clinton, Sterling, Bolton and Lancaster families, among other communities. They are looking for people who want to volunteer as a “Lasagna Mama or Papa.”
According to White, these are local cooks who are happy to provide a free meal to families going through a difficult time.
“It’s a free meal, made with love, no strings attached. We have delivered hundreds of lasagnas,” she said.
Lasagna Love is a national grassroots movement that aims to positively impact communities by connecting neighbors with neighbors through homemade meal delivery.
