LONDON “Welcome!” said John Gilhooly, the general director of the Wigmore Hall, standing in front of the auditorium’s small circular stage. The audience applauded wildly for a crowd of chamber music fans.
Man went on stealing spree from churches in Leitrim and Sligo

A Sligo man who went on a stealing spree from churches in Sligo and Leitrim has been remanded on bail until October, at Manorhamilton District Court.
Laurence McGowan (34) with addresses at Shalamar Hostel and Maryville, Sligo pleaded guilty to several theft and criminal damage charges.
He pleaded guilty that on October 6 last year at St Clare’s Church, Manorhamilton he entered as a trespasser and stole €250.
He also pleaded guilty that on December 2 last year at the same venue, he stole envelopes from a brass box to the value of €50, property of Fr John Gilhooly.

We’re now a month away – theoretically - from the resumption of indoor performances (May 17 onwards), albeit with social distancing. And we’re only a couple of months, again in principle, from the midsummer lifting of restrictions altogether – the ‘back to normal’ that everyone in the performing arts (and, let’s face, it across the board) has been craving since last March.
