Tyler Carbonaro was walking home from work, listening to music last Wednesday afternoon when a train struck him in Camillus. Carbonaro, 24, said he never heard the train coming from behind him. His noise-cancelling headphones played Syracuse native rapper Toosii’s “Sinners Prayer” as he walked next to the train tracks near Sherwood Avenue. It was 4:25 p.m. and Carbonaro said he was running a little behind schedule getting home, but for a good reason. He said he had just had a meeting at Home Depot, where he’s worked part-time for two months, and was just offered a full-time position. He accepted and very excited, he said.
