Anson had his murder charged dropped, along with the criminal possession of a weapon charge. His father, Charles Anson, still faces a murder charge. This is in connection with a fatal shooting investigation with the St. Lawrence County Sheriffs Department from last week on County Route 18 in the town of DeKalb.

Thursday, May 6, 2021 - 5:34 am RICHVILLE A second man has been charged with murder stemming from an incident early Tuesday morning on CR 18 in DeKalb Junction, according to state police. Charles M. Anson, 51, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and making a false written statement, deputies said. On Tuesday, 29-year old John Anson was charged with second-degree murder of Justin Massey, 40, Rossie. Massey was reportedly shot and killed some time around the morning hours of May 3. The younger Anson is additionally being charged with second-degree assault, officers said. Both subjects are being held at St. Lawrence County jail.

DEKALB — One person has been charged with murder in the Tuesday morning shooting death of a north country man, and two others have been arrested as the homicide investigation continues. The St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has identified Justin A. Massey, 40, of Rossie, as the victim at 580 County Route 18, a village of Richville address in the southern portion of the town of DeKalb. Sheriff’s deputies were initially called to the residence at about 2:30 a.m. for a burglary in progress, and upon arrival, found Mr. Massey “deceased with a gunshot to his body.” John C. Anson, 29, a resident of the address, was charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
