Plan for flats in listed building on North Parade is refused | Bradford Telegraph and Argus

2 North Parade AN application to turn office space in a Gothic city centre building into flats has been refused. 2 North Parade is a Grade II listed building in the Top of Town area of the city centre. There is an empty shop unit on the ground floor, with office space above it. Piccadilly Properties applied for permission to convert the first floor into two, one bed flats. But Bradford Council has now refused the application. Planning officers said that while the flats were an acceptable size, the plans did not include enough detail for the Council to be confident that the work would not harm the listed building.

Proposed changes to listed cottages in Haworth described as 'unacceptable'

The cottages on Ebor Lane HOUSING developer Skipton Properties has been told its plans to alter a row of listed cottages would be unacceptable. Last Summer Bradford Council granted permission for the developer to convert existing listed buildings at Ebor Mills in Haworth into homes, and building 24 new homes on the rest of the site. Earlier this year Skipton Properties asked Bradford Council for Listed Building Consent to make alterations to a number of Grade II listed cottages on Ebor Lane, numbers 4, 5 and 8. In its application the company had said it: Acquired the dwellings in question with the intention of enhancing the roadside frontage of their adjacent mill conversion and residential development site, whilst also upgrading existing housing stock to bring them back to a habitable standard.

Popular play area flattened as plans for new £650,000 replacement facility approved

Plans to replace the play area were announced over a year ago, shortly before the Pandemic began. The Council said that the facility is one of the busiest in Bradford, and hoped that re-vamping it would turn it into the “destination” play area for the District. There had been calls to upgrade the play area for years - and at its busiest there would be queues to use the swings. One local Councillor, Sarfraz Nazir (Lab, Manningham) said some areas were in “a state of disrepair.” The new play area design was described as “exciting, unique and innovative” in the planning application.

Next step in Bradford Live plans, including removal of 1960s entrance, is approved

THE long journey to turn the former Odeon in Bradford city centre into a live music venue has taken another step forward. The former cinema, which has been empty for two decades, will be reborn as Bradford Live - a major new live music venue. This week the latest planning application for the building was approved by Bradford Council. It called for slight amendments to the previously approved scheme, including the infilling of the central entrance to the building - which was created in the 1960s. The plans also called for a new exit door to the East elevation of the building.
