A former Morgan County Circuit Clerk is being honored with a memorial dedication next week.
The Sunrise Rotary Club of Jacksonville will formally dedicate a memorial in Godfrey Park on Tuesday in memory of the late Barb Baker. Baker served in many community service roles over the years including as Morgan County Circuit Clerk from 1988 to 2002.
Incoming Sunrise Rotary President Jane Becker says, Baker who was also a Past-President of Play for All Incorporated, was the driving force for what is now Godfrey Park as it is known today.

The dedication is at the Godfrey Play for All Park and we are going to dedicate the pavilion and a park bench to one of our founding members of Sunrise Rotary, Barb Baker. She passed away, and she was just a totally dedicated public servant in so many ways.
Reckless driver accused of DUI, possession of cocaine, Clay County deputies say

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A man who was driving recklessly was pulled over during the weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office said deputies were alerted to the reckless driver via a call made to 911 dispatch. Investigators said the vehicle was located and stopped, and the driver was arrested for DUI.
The driver, the Sheriff’s Office said, was also in possession of 150 grams of cocaine and a firearm. Investigators said he was illegally in possession of the gun.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The new managing director and CEO of the JEA on Wednesday announced a new organizational structure and who he has hired to fill most of the top jobs after a shakeup after last year’s failed attempt by the previous CEO to sell off the public-owned utility.
Jay Stowe, who was hired last November, said the new structure will reduce the number of direct reports to the CEO from 11 to seven. Those jobs will include a chief administrative officer, chief human resources officer, chief customer officer, chief strategy officer, chief operating officer, chief financial officer and a chief external affairs officer.
