The city of Jackson, together with a host of dedicated local health partners, will administer 2,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses to Jackson residents in a special Vaccination Day event Saturday at the Jackson Convention Complex. The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., specifically aims to reach seniors and other vulnerable residents. Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba said it is a direct response to concerns of limited access to vaccines within the City of Jackson, the state’s most populous municipality with a near 85% Black population.Phone lines are open until 7 p.m. Monday, and from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday until appointments are filled.Those who wish to register are asked to call 601-446-3778, 601-446-3566 or 601-906-6648 to schedule an appointment.
