Jahel Ashley, 31, pleaded not guilty at his arraignment last week in state Supreme Court, St. George.
Prosecutors allege Ashley gunned down Brooklyn resident Sean Dallas, 29, on Sept. 15 after the victim had picked up his two children.
Dallas then continued driving and got his kids.
Afterward, he drove about a half-block to the corner of Grandview Avenue and Arlington Place where he stepped out of his car and was shot, said the source.

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. A Mariners Harbor man is facing several charges including murder after being arraigned on Staten Island Friday.
Authorities allege that Jahel Ashley, 31, gunned down 29-year-old Sean Dallas in front of his young children in Mariners Harbor in September after a suspected incident of road rage.
Ashley, who was arrested Thursday morning, allegedly shot Dallas on Sept. 15 at about 8:45 a.m. near the corner of Grandview Avenue and Arlington Place, according to an NYPD statement.
When officers arrived, they found Dallas lying on the ground with gunshot wounds to his chest and right arm. EMS responded and Dallas was taken to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton, where doctors declared him dead.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in the fatal shooting of Sean Dallas on the street in Mariners Harbor in a suspected road-rage incident four months ago.
The suspect, Jahel Ashley, lives on Grandview Avenue, a short distance from where Dallas, 29, was fatally shot on Sept. 15 at about 8:45 a.m. near the corner of Grandview and Arlington Place, according to an NYPD statement.
