Doha: Over five weeks, 31 high school students in grades 9-12 explored the fundamentals of the engineering design process while learning from home during the Qatar Invents: Innovating in Three Dimensions STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) program developed and offered by Texas A&M University at Qatar, a Qatar Foundation partner university.
STEM experts Tala Katbeh and Benjamin Cieslinski developed and taught Qatar Invents, which tasked the students with coming up with novel solutions to problems while learning the necessary 3D computer-aided design (CAD) modeling tools to design and create their prototypes. In August 2020, Sayeeda Khanum, the first professional female photographer of Bangladesh, breathed her last at the age of 83. To commemorate her legacy and her journey, Chobi Mela 2021 arranged a solo exhibition of her work.
The exhibition, The Rebel with a Smile , is a retrospective of Sayeeda Khanum, featuring photographs, collectives, letters, and memoirs from the legend s illustrious life. It is curated by Sarker Protick, Tanzim Wahab, and ASM Rezaur Rahman.
A short documentary with an interview of the photographer is screening at the exhibition, in which she shares bits and pieces of her life with photographer Jannatul Mawa. Taposh joins BSS employee Khalid’s namaz-e-janaza

DHAKA, Jan 21, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today attended the namaz-e-janaza of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha’s (BSS) PABX in-charge Mohammad Khalid day after he was killed in a road mishap in the city.
Along with relatives, neighbours and friends, former and incumbent colleagues of Khalid including BSS Managing Editor Anisur Rahman joined the janaza held at a playground adjacent to Demra Borobhanga Government Hospital.
After joining the namaz-e-janaza of the national news agency’s employee, Taposh visited the residence of Khalid who was killed as a DSCC garbage truck run over the victim’s head leaving him dead on the spot and expressed profound shock at the death of him.
