Congresswoman
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tried to equate President
Joe Biden’s reopening of a migrant facility for unaccompanied minors with the Trump administration’s horrific record on child detention then walked her criticism of Biden back after half an hour of intense reaction.
On Tuesday afternoon, AOC posted a link to a
Washington Postarticle entitled “First migrant facility for children opens under Biden,” and wrote, “This is not okay, never has been okay, never will be okay – no matter the administration or party.”

The congressman pushed Democratic leadership to reconsider their “extreme and divisive break with historical precedent.”
“The last thing a political party that claims to champion protecting the vulnerable should do is advance a radical abortion agenda endangering the lives of millions of Americans,” he said. “We plan to counter your pro-abortion efforts every step of the way.”
Lamborn said that it is “unconscionable” that DeLauro would use her power to try to eliminate Hyde in a statement to the DCNF.
“For 44 years, Democrats, including Joe Biden, have supported the Hyde Amendment,” Lamborn said. “Now they are attempting to force their radical leftist abortion agenda on all Americans. Any assault on life and the consciences of American taxpayers must be stopped.”

Politically speaking, Massachusetts is a jumble of contradictions. This very blue state has become even bluer. Hillary Clinton trounced Donald Trump here in 2016, winning 61% of the vote, but in 2020, Joe Biden won an even bigger landslide with more than 65%. There is no shortage of woes for the state’s Republican Party. In the State Senate, GOP membership has dropped to just three senators (out of 40).

For those of you old enough to remember Joseph Heller’s 1961 novel Catch-22, it is a reminder that most things really are not new.
The ground-breaking dark comedy, although stylistically it was similar to two earlier Samuel Beckett novels, followed anti-hero Capt. John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Force B-25 bombardier, as he tried to process in different times and places the horrific death of a fellow officer.
The title of the book has taken on a meaning of its own, a paradoxical situation with no escape because of rules or limitations.
The situation is like the character Klinger in MASH who tries to feign mental illness to escape his military service only to be told he is not insane because he wants to get out of the Army.
Nancy Pelosi's pick to lead a Capitol security investigation in the wake of the Jan. 6 riot hurled multiple partisan insults at congressional Republicans.
