LAKELAND In the 20 years RP Funding Center Booking Manager Scott Sloman has worked at the venue, he s seen more event cancellations ever in one season this past year.
But with entertainment complexes across the United States beginning to reopen, the RP Funding Center stage lights are ready to regularly shine once again.
Battling a string of cancellations for the 2020 season and empty auditoriums and indoor sports arena, Sloman and RP Funding Center Director of Marketing Jason Refermat have announced a full slate of live programming for the center’s 2021-22 season.
During a recent meeting at the RP Funding Center offices, Sloman and Refermat, along with their intern, Nicole Flynn, discussed the logistics of getting shows and sporting events literally up and running after an extended hiatus. Among the schedule are Tony-Award winning Broadway productions, the popular rock album covers Classic Albums Live Series, holiday shows and renowned comedians.
Located at
1100 18th Ave. S., the property spans 0.18 acres and is home to a former residential building that doesn t appear to house any businesses. The seller was vocalist Heidi Newfield, who previously was a member of country pop band Trick Pony. Newfield paid $765,000 for the property in January 2013, according to Metro records.
The new owners are apparently a married couple, other details about which the
Post was unable to determine.
Of note, the late Kacey Jones, a songwriter and comedian known for her work with Ethel & The Shameless Hussies, owned the property before selling to Newfield.
Atkins, who died in 2001 and is considered one of the all-time great guitar players, owned the property briefly in 1989 with Jana Owens (aka Jana Jae), an esteemed fiddle player who was married to the late Buck Owens.
