MANGALURU: Disha, a class III student of Vivekananda School (Puttur), has donated her piggy bank savings to a hospital, so that the amount can be used for the treatment of poor patients.
Disha had saved nearly Rs 10,000 her pocket money collected over the past few years in her piggy bank. Moved by the plight of poor patients, who are struggling to get treatment during the pandemic, Disha donated her savings to them. She handed over the amount to surgeon Dr M K Prasad of Adarsha Hospital,Puttur.
He urged people to take maximum benefit from the Janaushadhi Kendra and avail the facilities.
The CMO briefed about the importance of the Scheme and urged the people to take maximum benefits from the Jan Aushadhi Store. He said that these stores would have a great impact on the lives of people by providing them quality medicines.
He added that the aim of the campaign is to reduce out of pocket expenses in the healthcare system.
Meanwhile, the Jan Aushadhi Stores were also inaugurated by Block Medical Officer Shopian in PHC Vehil, Block Medical Officer Zainapora at CHC Zainapora and Block Medical Officer Keller at CHC Keller.

Three women in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district were given anti-rabies shots when they went to get coronavirus vaccine doses at a community health centre on Thursday, reported NDTV. A pharmacist was suspended after the incident.
The women were identified as Saroj, Anarkali and Satyawati fell ill after getting the anti-rabies shot, which is administered for dog bites. Shamli District Magistrate Jasjit Kaur said that the women went to the centre to get their Covid-19 shots but instead of going to the first floor, where the shots were being administered, went to the out patient department. All the three women were above 60 years.
