Updated January 15, 2021 3:10pm The Jolo, Sulu Regional Trial Court (RTC) has ordered the arrest of nine policemen accused of killing four soldiers in the town last June, the Department of Justice (DOJ) said Friday. The court issued the arrest warrants on Thursday, said Prosecution Attorney Honey Delgado, spokesperson of the Office of the Prosecutor General. Delgado said the court is scheduled to hear prosecutors motion for a hold departure order (HDO) against the accused on Friday. Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra confirmed this and said the court also issued hold departure orders (HDO) against the accused.

Published January 15, 2021 2:50pm The Armed Forces of the Philippines urged the dismissed police officers involved in the fatal Jolo shooting incident last year that left four Army officers dead, to surrender after warrants for their arrest have been issued. We urge the respondent police personnel to surrender else the AFP, the Philippine National Police, and other government agencies will vigorously search, find, and deliver them to court without delay to face trial for multiple murder, AFP spokesman Major General Edgard Arevalo said in a press statement Friday.
CAMP AGUINALDO, Quezon City, Jan. 13 The Armed Forces of the Philippines submitted on Monday, January 11, to the United Nations a report on violent incidents committed by the communist terrorist group (CTG) towards civilians and their properties.
The report listed a total of 532 violent incidents since 2010 and gathered by the AFP Human Rights Office.
These were submitted to Ms Signe Poulsen, Representative to the Philippines of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and Mr Gustavo Gonzales, UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in the Philippines.
Copies were also sent to Undersecretary Severo Catura, Executive Director of Presidential Human Rights Committee, and Assistant Secretary Noralyn Jubaira-Baja, Office of the United Nations and International Organizations, Department of Foreign Affairs.

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) claimed responsibility for the Jan. 4 armed encounter between the New People’s Army (NPA) and the Philippine Army (PA) in Malibcong, Abra where a ranking military officer was killed.
In a statement Sunday, Jan. 10, the CPP said that members of the Agustin Begnalen Command of the NPA-Abra were the ones involved in the firefight with the Army’s 72nd Division Reconnaissance Company (DRC) and 24th Infantry Battallion in Barangay Pacqued.
“Noong Enero 4, bandang alas-8:40 ng umaga nang pinutukan ng mga pulang mandirigma ang platun ng DRC (Last Jan. 4, around 8:40 a.m., the Red combatants fired shots at the DRC platoon),” it said.

NPA torching of heavy equipment in Samar (file photo) A total of 532 incidents of attacks on civilian properties were perpetrated by communist groups since 2010, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) alleged on Friday. Most of the attacks were dome through torching of private properties committed by members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People s Army-National Democratic Front, the AFP added. According to the AFP, the incident list was submitted by the AFP Human Rights Office (AFP HRO) to the Commission on Human Rights on January 7. Meanwhile, the AFP said that the number of incidents collected from field units was expected to increase as the military continues to obtain data on communist rebels atrocities.
